Jubilee Events! Join the fun…

The Minety Jubilee committee are delighted to present the following jam-packed itinerary for the jubilee weekend:

The aim of the weekend is to provide a fun and memorable time. Any money raised will go to a Jubilee fund this will cover costs and be used to provide a lasting jubilee memorial in the village.
Mon 30th – Sun 5th June – Pétanque competition at the MPFA pavilion with the grand finale to take place on Sunday 5th June
Thursday 2nd – Sun 5th June – Minety treasure Hunt. Clues to follow in Minety and Upper Minety. A great way to explore the villages. Entry sheets from the Village shop.
Friday 3rd June – Exhibition of art by Minety children at the Village Hall. 10am – 5pm. All pictures will be of a royal theme with prizes for the best two entries in each age group
Saturday 4th June – Open Gardens in Minety – Explore the gardens of proud and keen gardeners in the village. Maps available from the village shop. Where you can also take part in the Minety plant swap. 10am -4pm
Saturday 4th June – Jubilee Flowers with cream teas,  2-4pm at St Leonard’s Church.
Saturday 4th June – An exhibition of photographs of Minety over the years at the village Hall 2pm – 5pm. Come along and reminisce about life in the villages over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
Saturday 4th June – Party at the pavilion from 7pm. See the posters and the MPFA Facebook page for details.
Sunday 5th June – Jubilee Service of Celebration, 10am at St Leonard’s Church.
Sunday 5th June – 10am – Drop off for WI jubilee entries at the MPFA pavilion for judging at 11am
– The BIG jubilee lunch will be held on the car park of the MPFA playing fields at 1pm. Bring a picnic, Vintage tables and chairs available. Reserve your seats for you, your family, and friends (with a £1 donation per seat to the jubilee fund) by calling into the village shop.
3pm – Games on the field and the winning entries of the WI competition will be available for viewing
Tea and cakes available from 3pm and the pavilion bar will be open.

  1. Put these dates on your calendar and come along to the events
  2. Fill in a WI jubilee competition entry form and plan what your entries will be.
  3. Get your children painting for the jubilee art exhibition they could win a prize
  4. Book your seat at the Minety Big Jubilee lunch by reserving your seat at the village shop
  5. Get your red, white, and blue outfit, crown, or fancy hat to wear for the jubilee lunch
  6. Are you a keen gardener? Would you like to show off your plot at the Open Gardens event on Saturday 4thJune? For more info contact Sue Slucock on 01666 860749
  7. Learn the rules of Pétanque and enter a team in the pétanque competition (don’t worry if don’t learn them… there will be beady eyed referees on the piste!)
