We have recently been experiencing a number of cycling events through the village, and are likely to see more over the next couple of months. Unfortunately, they aren’t always advertised, and the parish council are rarely told about them. We have recently received complaints from horse riders because of one of these events.
Recent changes to the Highway Code have sections on ‘rules for cyclists’ and ‘rules for animals’, plus a new hierarchy of road users to try and increase safety.
Should anyone experience issues with a future event, the parish council recommend you try and find out the event organiser, note any participant numbers, and quote the relevant section of the Highway Code to them.
